The usual parade past the Stand having been performed under the command of Mr M'George, the horses speedily met at the post, and were immediately despatched on their way. When fairly in thempiaces the running was taken up by the Maid of ■Masham colt, lying on the left of his horses, having the favorite on his whipping hand, the pair being folio wed wide, on their right', by Knight of the Crescent and Westwick, close in.whose'rear were Caithness, Stratheonan, ahd Savernake, and to these succeeded Harefield and Emigrant, Sealskin being a long vvay in the rear of everything. Caithness was seen tp give way as they came fairly into the straight, followed as they crossed the road before reaching the distance by Knight of the Crescent, which left Savernake in attendance upon Lord Lyon, the pair being a couple of lengths in advance of Lord Exeter's colt, close up. with whom came Stratheonan. On reaching .the distance, Challoner, who had ridden his horsa with great tenderness, brought up Saver - nake, and, getting to the feyorite's head half-way down, the pair eaine on locked together amid the breathless silence ofthe vast multitude, and fk-ished the closest and most exciting contests seen here for many years, by a in favor of Lord Lyon, whose own^r v? a s met with yocifer-
